Microblogging with Pownce
I am trying Pownce to see what I can make of microblogging. It's there to fill a gap between Twitter and this blog where I have something brief to say, but it doesn't have enough meat for a full weblog post.
The primary use so far is to push a link and add some comments. I know, I was using del.icio.us for this purpose. I had a couple of problems still with del.icio.us:
- personal links, e.g., stuff for the kids' school, got mixed with links I want to push to friends, and
- sometimes I wanted to make comments intended only for coworkers.
I can fix both problems with Pownce.
Twitter stays for ephemeral thoughts.
There is an interesting gradiant in privacy also. My blog is public. My twitter timeline is private. Pownce is between the two: I can share publically or with sets of friends.
Pownce opens to the public on January 22. If you want to sign up ahead of that date, I have a few invites left. Just ask.
